Willunga Bangor Slate Quarry
Originally opened in 1842 by Thomas Williams the slate quarry (then known as the Willunga Bangor Company) was an important industry in the district with slate carted to Aldinga and transferred to ships. The quarry is an important reminder of the thriving slate industry which supplied slates for many of the buildings constructed in Adelaide and Melbourne in the nineteenth century.
The Bangor Slate Quarry is still in use today.
